A webinar on “Engineering Ethics” was held on December 7, 2023. The head presenter, Snigdha Afsana mam, discussed the importance of engineering ethics and their proper implementation in the engineering profession. She highlighted the fundamental rules, canons, and codes of engineering ethics, emphasizing key principles such as prioritizing service over benefit, putting the profession above personal advantage, and maintaining zero tolerance for bribery and corruption. Additionally, she stressed that ensuring safety and human welfare is the paramount rule to follow. Professor Dr. Nazrul Islam sir, the faculty advisor of the ASCE Student Chapter at BUET, also shared his valuable insights on the importance of self-conscience, morality, and ethics. More than 80 students attended the webinar and learned how to uphold honor, transparency, and honesty as professional engineers.
