ASCE BUET Student Chapter presents “Greening the Past: Structural Innovations in Building Retrofits” by Kaisar M. Sattar, MEng, MS, PE, M.ASCE, M.SEIon on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at Dr Jamilur Reza Chowdhury Civil Building, BUET.

The session will focus on how green roof systems and retrofit methods can improve building performance and sustainability. Participants will gain practical insight into retrofit strategies and understanding of sustainable engineering approaches. 

The speaker, Kaisar M. Sattar, is a BUET graduate with master’s degrees in Structural and Environmental/Sustainable Engineering. He has 25+ years of experience, is a registered Professional Engineer in New York, and currently works at NYC Housing Authority. He has taught practice-oriented courses and served three terms on the ASCE Tall Buildings Committee
